Reflecting on their childhood memories of having chickens, they thought:
"Now that we're in our "young" 50's why not get some chickens! Along with that CRAZY COVID year of 2020 and being quarantined, we thought this would be the perfect time to get some chickens, and relive our childhood memories! Before we went to buy a bunch of chickens we needed to do research to make sure we did this right! In our many hours of researching we were intrigued about raising them as pasture raised organic chickens because we wanted them to live healthy, happy, bug eating, grass eating lives and be raised with no pesticides, antibiotics or hormones. We also wanted to feed them certified organic non-GMO feed and have pure rain water to wash down all that goodness! Off we went to buy some chicks!
We think it went kinda like this, and all of you chicken people will definitely understand.... Let's get 6 chicks...well how about 12...oh I like these other 6 too...anyway when it was all said and done we now have a total of 48 chickens and 7 guineas, we think! We were also looking to add 100 laying hens the following January 2021! However, they will need six months before we will get the first egg....Go big or go home, right?
So we got our first egg...then suddenly we were getting way too many eggs to even think about eating all of them! We knew other health conscious people cared about what food they put in their bodies too and were also interested in eating organic eggs, so why not try to sell some locally and help other people. That is how Chicken Town Egg Farm got started."
We are now selling the best of the best eggs at farmer's markets and grocery stores in the Jonesboro, Forrest City and Memphis areas.

While it may have been small, we knew the potential and girls were just getting the hang of things.
A dozen of our eggs after the ladies figured out how to do their job properly.
We were researching very hard for a name for our barn, but never could come up with an original sounding name that hasn't already been used. We had our granddaughters over one day and they absolutely love the chickens, as you can see in the photos!
We went to their house later that evening to eat supper, and when we got done eating we were sitting around visiting, while the granddaughters were playing in their room. The oldest granddaughter came running up to me and said "Grandaddy come and look at something in my room."
When we entered her room, both of them had set up a place for their chickens on the floor. They began to show me their layout and said "here is where the chickens will sleep and here is where they will eat and play...we call it Chicken Town!"
Right then and there I knew that was going to be the name I use. They were SOOO EXCITED...maybe a little too excited! My daughter texted me the next day and said "If I hear one more stinking thing about a chicken, I'm going to wring your neck." LOL!
